Lately I've been so busy at work my body has been feeling tired, weighed down, and low on energy. A friend suggested a cleanse program. What is that and would it help me?

Dear Cherri,
Our body is designed to naturally self-cleanse; it is something that our body does for us every day. The kidneys, liver, intestines, and skin all participate in this process of helping our body to stay clean and function properly. In fact, without these natural processes, we would literally be poisoned to death. Fortunately, these processes generally run fairly smoothly and without too much effort on our part.
Unfortunately, however, there is no way to get around the fact that we live in a polluted world (nope, I'm sorry; living in a bubble just isn't a viable option for most people). The air we breathe is polluted, the food we eat is full of chemicals, and even the clothing we wear is synthetic. Because of this, the amount of toxins that our bodies now have to combat is much higher than it has likely ever been in the past. Simply put, sometimes our bodies can't expel all of the junk that we ingest fast enough to keep running at its optimal level.
Detoxification is a way to allow the body to get rid of the toxins that are stored over time and that, if not managed, can begin to impair our body's performance and cause us to age more quickly. Some signs that you may have high levels of toxins in your body include frequent headaches, being overly tired, getting colds or other illnesses easily, digestive problems, allergies, and skin problems.
Detoxification can help to solve many of these common problems and improve overall health and wellbeing. With proper detoxification, the digestive tract is cleansed, the immune system can be improved, dependency on habit-form drugs and other substances can be reduced, and even the mind can be cleared and work more effectively.
Detoxification Methods
There are many detoxification products that can help you rid your body of harmful toxins. Detoxification, when done with wisdom, can be an excellent way to clean and rejuvenate the body. Many diseases are caused by the accumulation of waste and toxins when they are not properly expelled from the body. By participating in a program of detoxification, whether weekly, monthly, quarterly, or yearly, you will help to keep your body running at its best and you will avoid aging faster than you should.
