Dear Mary,
I have really thin, flat hair and want to add some more body. What do you recommend?

I'm sure we all know someone who always look like they just stepped out of a salon or those women who can shower and just go and their hair always looks great. Well if you have thin, flat hair and are tired of feeling like you got a raw deal, I have a few tips that could take you from wishing and wanting - to having and loving!
First, use a shampoo and conditioner specifically made for thin hair. This will help not to weigh your hair down. Next, when you get out of the shower, dry your hair with a towel and as crazy as it sounds - don't brush out the snarls. Let your hair air dry 85-90% of the way. Okay, you are probably thinking, "this lady is crazy!" Trust me, by allowing your hair to almost completely dry all tangled and crazy you have instantly given your hair more body and let the roots dry before the brush can pull on them, causing them to flatten.
Now for shaping and taming. The two tools you will need are a good round brush and a nice blow dryer. Begin by tipping your head upside down and blow drying your hair in every direction, this will help give the roots their full body. Next, pull the top half of your hair up in a clip allowing just the bottom layer to fall down. Use the round brush and begin blow drying your hair a layer at a time. A secret for your hair to hold the body a round brush will give it, is to let the hair cool in the round bush before moving on to the next section of hair. My last secret for thicker, wavier hair is when you have blow dried each layer, use your fingers to comb out your hair rather than a brush. Thin hair will flatten more with a brush.
If you follow these steps you will have more body than you ever dreamed possible.
